As the educators of future generations it is important we are informed of the issues concerning business and Canterbury. With this knowledge we can arm our students with the skills and tools to succeed in the business world.
The Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce is once again organising Thrive Mainland, business expo.
Thrive Mainland is no ordinary business event. The concept has been designed to motivate, inspire, educate and entertain business people – to help develop business in the Mainland. This sounds simple enough but in practice how can a one-day event do this? “Each year business managers and owners face similar issues regarding the day-to-day running of their enterprise, plus a handful of new hurdles that arrive each year. These could be compliance, employment problems, exchange rates, maintenance/upgrades of systems – you name it. Even through the best planning, some of these ‘extras’ come out of left field.
“While there is a myriad of training options out there (including the Employers’ Chamber’s own offering), and plenty of inspirational speaker events to attend – about five years ago we recognised that there was a need for a forum where busy business people could come along and learn about best practice while being inspired to keep striving to better their own organisations. Thrive Mainland has been developed over time to provide just that – in an entertaining format.
Thrive Mainland 2008 is being MC’d by Kim Hill – known for her caustic but insightful approach – and sees topics ranging from election year implications, to building a brand, to making changes without loosing your company identity, to tackling challenges head on. It is a day not to be missed by anyone in business who is serious about being informed, motivated and inspired into excelling.
Around 500 attendees are expected with 35 trade stalls. For more details and the full speaker line-up visit www.thrivemainland.co.nz.
