Theatre costumes for the upcoming Hagley Theatre Company's production of 'Ettie Rout' have been designed and made by members of the year 13 'Artwear' course at Hagley.
The Artwear students began this process by interviewing the Director of the play to gauge his vision for the production. At this meeting they confirmed the number of actors, the time frame they had to work with (i.e when the play begins and when the costumes would be required for dress rehearsal) and the budget.
In a subsequent meeting the students presented their rendered designs to the director for selection. Once the casting had been completed and the designs chosen, the students arranged a time to measure the actors.
Throughout the unit the students managed their time, fitting actors when necessary and had progress meetings with the director to check that the direction was correct and whether any cast or vision changes had been made.
